7 Tricks To Avoiding An Interior Painting Mess in Scappoose, OR

There are many things that might happen while you are looking at painting the interior of your home -- if you aren't careful, it's entirely possible to make a bit of a mess while painting.

The good news is that there are ways that you can avoid some of these messes, or at the very least avoid a large part of them -- if you take the right steps, that is.

Let's look at and consider seven tricks to avoiding an interior painting mess in Scappoose, OR.

1. Painting More Slowly

One thing that you can do to help you get your painting done without a mess is to paint more slowly.

The issue with painting too quickly is that you might think that by doing so you will get the job done faster but in the end you are more likely to make a mess and have to spend more time in cleanup.

What seems to be a shortcut to getting your paintwork done faster ends up not saving you any time at all.

2. Using Appropriate Drop Cloth

There are many ways that you can protect your floors and other things that need to be protected from dripping paint, and a good drop cloth is among them.

The thing about drop cloth is that you have to get the right sort of drop cloth depending on what it is that you are trying to protect.

If you are for example trying to protect your floor, you'll want a heavier sort of drop cloth so that when you are walking around you won't move it so easily and allow your floor to go unprotected.

Furniture, on the other hand, would be better protected with a lighter plastic protector as it would require such a heavy cloth to stay down.

3. Make Use Of Brushes That Are Not Overly Inexpensive

There are uses for inexpensive paintbrushes, but if you are trying to properly paint your interior you will do well for yourself to not use one such inexpensive paintbrush.

There are a number of problems with these sorts of paintbrushes and the ease with which you may be able to paint plays into it as well as the issue of bristles from the brush getting into the paint itself.

4. Remove As Much Furniture As Possible

One way that you can avoid making a mess while you are painting is to remove as much of the furniture as you can from the room being painted.

The reason that this is the case is that when you have more things in the room, they will tend to possibly be in your way, and by removing them, you will in effect make it less likely that you're going to make a mess.

5. Do Not Paint Directly From Paint Buckets

When you are looking to paint your home interior, it's important that you try to first pour into a paint tray.

Paint trays are a lot better for accessing your paint than a typical paint bucket for a number of reasons, one being that it's a lot easier to spill paint when you're painting from a paint bucket than when you're painting from a paint tray. Additionally, it is easier to get paint onto your paintbrush and your paint roller when you're using a paint tray.

6. Remove Or Protect Light Fixtures

In the painting of the interior of your home, you're going to come across the light fixtures that make up part of the room.

There are two ways that you can protect these light fixtures from possible messes with paint -- one is to protect the fixture with some kind of plastic covering -- this will be the simplest way to go about doing it.

To remove it would be a little bit more tricky but ultimately will achieve the same goal.

7. Remove Sanding Dust After Sanding

Lastly, you have to make sure that after you sand during the process of preparing to paint, you fully clean the sanding dust.

Some of the biggest messes that you might encounter during any given paint job come in the form of sanding dust inadvertently mixing in with paint.

By removing the sanding dust, you eliminate the possibility of this.
